Welcome to BridgeU, a social networking app created for university students to share, connect, and grow together. By downloading or using BridgeU ("the App"), you agree to the following Terms of Service. Please read them carefully.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using BridgeU, you agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

2. Eligibility

• BridgeU is intended exclusively for students enrolled at participating universities.
• Currently, access is limited to City University of Hong Kong (CityU) and The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK).
• Users must be 18 years or older.
• You must verify your student status using a valid university email address.

3. Account Registration

• You must register with a valid university email address to verify your student status.
• Email verification via OTP is required.
• You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials.
• You are responsible for all activity on your account.
• Do not share your account with others.

4. User Content

You may upload text, photos, or other content ("User Content").

• By posting, you grant BridgeU a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to display and distribute your content within the app.
• You retain ownership of your content.
• You represent that you have the right to post your content.

BridgeU reserves the right to remove any content that violates these rules or applicable laws.

5. Community Guidelines

Be respectful. BridgeU aims to reduce loneliness and promote healthy social interaction.

The following behaviors are strictly prohibited and may result in account suspension or termination:

• Harassment or bullying
• Hate speech or discrimination
• Impersonation of others
• Solicitation or prostitution
• Sharing personal contact information of others without consent
• Creating fake or duplicate accounts

6. Matching and Communication

• Matches are based on mutual likes and preferences.
• You may unmatch with any user at any time.
• Respect others' boundaries and preferences.
• Chat messages and images are stored on our servers.

7. AI Assistant

• BridgeU provides an optional AI conversation assistant.
• AI suggestions are for guidance only and should be used responsibly.
• We are not responsible for conversations that result from AI suggestions.

8. Intellectual Property

• All trademarks, logos, and app design elements belong to BridgeU.
• You may not copy, modify, distribute, or exploit any part of the app without written permission.
• The BridgeU name and logo are protected intellectual property.

9. Third-Party Services

BridgeU integrates services from:

• Google Mobile Ads - for advertising
• OpenRouter AI - for conversation assistance

Your use of these services is also subject to their respective terms and privacy policies.

10. Prohibited Activities

You may not:

• Use the app for any illegal purpose
• Attempt to hack, disrupt, or compromise app security
• Scrape or collect data from the app using automated means
• Create accounts using false information
• Use the app for commercial purposes without authorization
• Interfere with other users' experience

11. Account Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access if you:

• Violate these Terms
• Misuse the app
• Engage in harmful behavior toward other users
• Receive multiple user reports

You may also delete your account at any time from app settings.

12. Disclaimer of Warranties

• BridgeU is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind.
• We do not guarantee uninterrupted operation or that the app will be error-free.
• We do not guarantee that you will find matches or connections.
• We are not responsible for user-generated content or user behavior.

13. Limitation of Liability

BridgeU and its developers are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app, including but not limited to:

• Loss of data or content
• Interactions with other users
• Technical issues or service interruptions
• Third-party actions or content

We may update these Terms periodically. The latest version will always be available within the App and at this URL. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.

16. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Hong Kong SAR. Any disputes shall be resolved in Hong Kong courts.
